PPES News: Hot! Hot! Hot!

Well, as someone once sang, it's "hot, hot hot!" Looking at the weather forecast for the week, we appear to be seeing heat advisories for the each day. Obviously, it is not good for our kids to be out playing in such temperatures and it is conceivable that we will have to stay inside for lunch recess for most or all of the week. Usually, it starts to cool down to a frigid 98 degrees or so, by now. No such luck, this year! Luckily, the children still get the "free time" and can play games, etc., in the classrooms. But, it's not the same and I am eager to get them back outside. Keep your fingers crossed (but not while driving, of course!).

On another note, I was thrilled to see so many of you at our Orientation Nights. I want to reiterate something that you have probably heard, but it's always vital to stay in contact with your child's teacher, particularly if there are any concerns. They are all amazing and can help you in many ways! I'd particularly recommend this if you are getting variations of a story that paints any staff member, volunteer, or other student negatively. I used to share the following expression with my parents when I was a teacher: "Let's make a deal! Don't believe everything your child tells you about me, and I won't believe everything they tell me about you!" We always laughed, but the heart of the message is the same. Rarely do incidents, particularly when filtered through a child, get relayed exactly as they happened. So, always remember to confer with other adults if you are seeking the most accurate account. That allows you to triangulate the information and find out what is really happening.

That's it for now! Have a great week!
