PPES News: Orientation Week

Dear Parents,

Well, we did it! The first two days are in the books, and all went smoothly. On day two, the parking lot and pick up areas were clear by 3:17! That's a great start. On day one, we had a bus that got stuck trying to pull in and it blocked exiting traffic. That's why you may have experienced a delay in the rear of the school. But, we figured out how to wedge our new sixth bus in the front so as to not have that happen, again. Remember, however, if you park in that area after school where the busses pull in, you are not getting out until 3:05. It's tight in that area!

This is parent orientation week, with first, second, and third grades on Tuesday the 16th, and fourth, fifth, and sixth grades on Thursday the 18th. Both will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will last one hour in the teachers' classrooms. Mr. and Mrs. Schuman will hold a special orientation at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday the 17th for the parents of students in their program.

On a safety/health note, please encourage your children to wear sunscreen and/or hats for recess this time of year. It's not hot enough to keep them in (yet?), but we don't want those little faces any redder than they need to be! In case you are wondering, the district nurses have a formula that includes ozone, humidity, and heat to partially determine whether we should keep children inside. This usually leads to a handful of "heat days" a year.

That's all for now. Have a great weekend...

Mike
