PPES News: Odd's n' Ends!

Dear Parents,

Happy Labor Day Weekend! I hope you enjoy some quality time, preferably by a pool! Here are a few PPES tidbits for you:

  • Please remember you are more than welcome to join your child for an occasional lunch in the cafeteria, however, state and district nutrition rules prohibit distribution of food in the cafeteria to other students. This includes candy and birthday treats. If you are celebrating a birthday or other special event, please coordinate with your teacher to do so in the classroom. Thanks!
  • Thank you for your patience as we "rebuild" our virtual presence within Google!
  • If you haven't seen it, have a look at the solar panel project poster in our lobby. It's shaded parking in the near future, and it's free to the district. This will be amazing, although we will have to be flexible with the construction at some point. As soon as I know timelines, I'll pass that information on to you.
  • Our bully program, based upon the Olweus model, will be "refreshed" this year by our Bullying and Character Committee. Stay tuned!
  • I hate to be repetitive, however, please do not encourage your child to break school policy during pickup time. We have had a few incidents where parents have called their children on cell phones and told them to go out the front and get in their cars in the pickup line to speed up the process. We do not have sufficient man power to enforce our rules in this area, and truly rely on an honor system, most of the time, that assumes parents will support rules based entirely on student safety. Having a system where some kids go to the front and others to the back, creates a scenario that minimizes our supervision by de-concentrating the student population. I thank you in advance for the cooperation and ask that you share this information with anyone who might pick up your child. And, don't forget, PVUSD delivers! (Via Bus, of course, for many of you!)
That's all for now. Enjoy your long weekend!
