PPES News: Another Update!

Dear Parents,

As many of you know, I typically try to be as wordy as humanly possible. Or, at least it probably feels that way! I'm going to try and break that trend and provide just a couple of succinct thoughts to help keep you up to speed. Let's see if I can actually do it, however....

  1. 4th and 5th grade parents should have received a letter yesterday inviting them to a coffee next Friday morning. The informational meeting it describes is strictly optional and the information provided will be shared online. For many parents, morning meetings work better than evening due to hectic sporting schedules for kids, etc., so I hope the time works for you. However, there is no need to worry if you cannot attend; you will not be "left out in the cold, " so to speak. By midweek, you will be receiving an information packet with more information to help you better estimate your interest in attending.
  2. Please do not be alarmed by implications in my last bulletin; it was to simply provide context for any potential changes that may occur. An overwhelming majority of our staff will be back next year and a change or two that we may think is coming, may actually not. The situation is always fluid and you will know when I know. For those of you who are not able to be around PPES during the day, rest assured that there is no "insider information" available to those parents who are. I don't even know the details, yet. Usually, what we anticipate is far different than what happens and we go through a variation of this every year. The only thing I can tell you for sure is that the inevitable rumors have begun, and I've heard several "doozies" already! I have no idea how they even get started. All I can say is "beware of flying doozies!" Unless yo hear it from me, consider it a rumor. It's good for your blood pressure. :)
  3. Any disorientation provided through change can be leveraged to improve what we do. This holds true for ANY organization, whether in business or education. I can stand by one promise at this point: We are going to be better at delivering a personalized education next year than we've ever been. On top of our two new and major initiatives I've announced in the past month, we are working to improve a system that puts ALL kids in the best position to exceed, not just succeed. In spite of the chaos involved in any planning stage, I'm incredibly excited.
Obviously, I'm too excited to stick to my "I'll be succinct" promise. Although, this isn't so bad, considering the source. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I will keep you posted.

P.S. - Please note that some of you have bookmarked the old email address associated with this blog and attempt to correspond with me that way. "rmlee@pvschools.net" remains the best address to contact me. Thanks!
